Midwives work with the MSF’s team in providing basic medical care and specifically in implementation and coordination of programs regarding mother and child health. These programs carried out either in already existing health centers (hospitals/clinics) or complementary to existing health care structures. Quite often midwives are cooperating with local health actors. They are in charge of supervision and training of national staff in medical care before, during and after delivery. In collaboration with other members of the team, midwives are gathering specific epidemiologic data and participate in ordering and distributing medicines and medical materials.
